Logging Congress Promotes Construction Equipment and Small Tractor Implement Dealers
(Rhinelander, WI) ? The 64th annual Lake States Logging Congress &Equipment Expo will roll into Escanaba September 10, 11, 12, 2009 bringing 10,000-15,000 people to the area. Logging Congress is one of the largest logging and equipment tradeshows of its kind, drawing internationally from Canada, to as far away asFinland. The show is located at the Upper Peninsula Fairgrounds in Escanaba, Michigan.
New for 2009, Logging Congress will be promoting the exhibition of construction equipment and small tractor implement dealers. With the loss of numerous construction and equipment expos in the Midwest, event organizers felt there is a need for construction industry representation at Logging Congress. Loggers primarily use construction equipment for numerous types of earthmoving applications, including road building and food plot preparation.
Henry Schienebeck, executive director of the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association feels small tractors and implement dealers are also finding their niche in the forest products industry. ?With the changing demand for raw forest products and the fact landowners are seeking multiple uses for their properties, it is important for logging companies to find ways of providing value added services to those landowners. Things such as hiking trails and food plots throughout a parcel of land have become an important part of forestry activities. Having the right equipment small enough, yet productive enough has become an essential part of the logger?s arsenal for providing those services,? says Schienebeck.
The event is open to the public to view the equipment. In addition to viewing, Sawing Contests, Forwarder Operator and Log Loader Contests, tug-of war, bowling pin toss and a well attended Presidents Kickoff hospitality event highlight this years Logging Congress event schedule.
Children will also have the opportunity to experience many interactive programs during the three-day event. Kids will enjoy going through the DNR Pocket Park to fish and view wildlife. The ?hands on? Growing UP Foresters exhibit allows children to demonstrate wood cutting and much more. Truck rides will also be available 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Saturday. Children and families can go for an actual ?truck ride? and get a picture taken during this family favorite event.
