Wood industry and forestry interests are invited to attend the 44th KFIA Annual Meeting at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, Kentucky on April 1 – 3, 2009. The meeting provides an excellent chance to see many old friends and of course make new ones. The program is full of activities and will focus on the future of hardwood management with topics of discussion to include bio-fuels, certification and an overview of current markets & industry.

The meeting will get underway with the Log A Load For Kids Golf Scramble scheduled for April 1 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Golf Course. Golfers of all abilities are invited to play and help raise money for the Log A Load for Kids campaign. Prizes will be awarded and a set of irons will be given away for closest to the pin. A Welcome Reception will be held in the evening and provide a chance to meet with customers and visit with Exhibitors.

Thursday, April 2 will begin with registration and time to visit exhibitors and attend the KFIA/Kentucky Tree Farm Awards Luncheon. Following the lunch a number of breakout programs will be open for everyone to enjoy and the afternoon will conclude with free time for attendees to visit the always popular Robinson Lumber & Van Meter Insurance hospitality suite to enjoy the New Orleans style food and fellowship. The Exhibitor reception will wrap up the evening activities.

The third and final day will include the General Session and an update on legislative activities of the association. Mark Barford with the National Hardwood Lumber Association will be discussing a number of marketing issues facing the hardwood industry and additional speakers will be discussing biomass activities and certification issues affecting the industry throughout the region. The meeting will conclude with a trip to Keeneland Race track to enjoy lunch and horse racing at its best.
